OUR WORK

Elevated Survivorship focuses on advocacy, education, and research to address breast cancer disparities for Black women on Chicago’s South Side. As part of the Chicago Better Together Breast Cancer Disparities Think Tank, Elevated Survivorship contributes to developing community-driven solutions for health inequities. Additionally, in partnership with People for Community Recovery and Breast Cancer Prevention Partners, Elevated Survivorship engages in Toxic Tours that examine environmental factors affecting breast cancer risks, emphasizing the importance of environmental justice and healthcare equity.

CHICAGO BETTER TOGETHER BREAST CANCER DISPARITIES THINK TANK

Our charge is to develop a community-driven strategic plan framed by
the priority intervention areas derived from that 2019 conversation
with community-based breast cancer advocates. Workgroups have
been formed for each priority area and are currently working to create

objectives and an action plan. Our strategy aims to champion multi-
level interventions that will transform the healthcare and social

landscape for everyone but with specific attention to the needs of
Black women living on the South Side and South Suburbs of Chicago.
